yum in rhel5.1 through internet

Hi, i am using redhat 5.1 versions .i need the rpm that automatically download from internet similar to centos and ubuntu. see i have an old gcc. compiler i want to download the latest version compatible to my rhel 5.1 with this yum utility.please suggest sunil

  • First think is sunil if you have rhn.redhat.com subscriptions and you have register your server of RHEL 5.1 to rhn.redhat.com you can setup auto update

Second think is you dont have rhn.redhat.com account then you can use free repo like

DAG and update or upgrade your server.

kmarsh : +1 you have to have a Red Hat Network subscription to get free updates from Red Hat, plus you have to register the host to that subscription on RHN, and then yum will work "automatically" (ha!).
sunil : i agree but if i don't have registration , suppose i want to use a DAG utility to update & upgrade my server as Rajat suggests . but what Baseurl i have to mention in my repo filr , also for this can i have to create repo for it or just use as it is .
    From Rajat
