DNS Settings in Cisco Wireless Lan Controllers

The WLC is a 2100 series and I have looked back and forth through the entire web interface. Originally the idea was that the gateway should be the DNS controler and the WLC pointed directly at the gateway. For some reason, random clients are having DNS specific issues when it comes to seeing certain shares around the network. The problems are also very intermittent.

Aside from going to each box and implementing a static DNS is there ACTUALLY a DNS setting lodged into the WLC settings (and I am being a numpty and can't find them) or am I stuck with performing the config 1 by 1?

  • If this is a private secure internal-only wireless... just use your internal DHCP server to dish out DNS servers that are available on your LAN. If you're already using your LAN DNS servers and are having issues with DNS lookups... then I would look at your DNS servers. If the WLC is acting as a DNS proxy... you can run into all sorts of caching issues & lack of support for various features & functionality. (like client dynamic DNS updates & such)

Braden : Thank you for all the help!
TheCompWiz : Wha? no accept of my answer?
